Who should take the combined pill?
The combined pill is not for everyone.
Usually doctors will prescribe the use of the combined pill
depending on your examination. You need to tell the doctor
about every illness or operations you have had. If you have had
the following illnesses in the past or now then you may not be
able to take the combined pill.
Illnesses that prevent you from taking the
combined pill

Thrombosis (blood clots) in any vein or artery

a heart abnormality or circulatory disease
including raised blood pressure

very severe migraines or focal migraines

breast cancer

disease of the liver or gall bladder

diabetes

unexplained bleeding from your vagina (for
example, between periods or after sex)

you smoke and are 35
or older
