There are more people worldwide suffering from allergies than any other illnesses. There are many types of allergies. Some people have severe cases of allergies while others are only allergic in extreme circumstances. Below are facts and information on allergies.

What are allergies?

Allergies are the inflammations that result from the sensitivity to certain objects, called allergens. When the body comes into contact with allergens, the immune system reacts unfavorably causing inflammations. Examples of allergies are allergies due to foods, animals, dander, pollen, molds and chemicals.

What are the most common types of allergies?

The most common type of allergies are seasonal allergies. Seasonal allergies are inflammations resulting from particular trees, plants, or pollen in the air.

What are the symptoms of allergies?

Different people show different symptoms of allergies. Symptoms of allergies are classified by the severity of allergic reaction such as:

  • mild
  • moderate
  • severe

The mild cases of allergies are the most common. Symptoms of mild allergies include (but not limited to):

  • watery eyes
  • itchy skin
  • runny nose
  • coughing
  • hives
Is there a cure for allergies?

Unfortunately there is no cure for allergies but you can treat allergies and prevent allergies by taking medicine, eating foods and supplements that are full of nutrients to prevent allergens from being able to attack your body. Antihistamine, for example, can prevent allergic reactions if you don't have severe allergies. You can also get an allergy shot. There are many ways you can help yourself to minimize the chances of allergic reactions.
