Types of Viral Hepatitis
There are many types of viral Hepatitis. It
is important to differentiate between types of Hepatitis since
different types of viral Hepatitis require different levels of
Hepatitis treatments. Below are the types of Hepatitis.
 |
Type of Viral Hepatitis: Hepatitis
Type A
|
Hepatitis Type A is a liver disease caused
by the hepatitis A virus or HAV. There are many ways to
transmit Type A Hepatitis such as by contaminated food. Poor
sanitation promotes the spread of Type A Hepatitis. Therefore,
undeveloped countries or developing countries have more cases
of Type A Hepatitis.
 |
Type of Viral Hepatitis:
Hepatitis Type B
|
Hepatitis Type B is more serious
than Hepatitis Type A. Hepatitis Type B is caused by a
virus called Hepatitis B virus or HBV. This Hepatitis B
virus attacks the liver much more than Hepatitis A does.
Hepatitis Type B virus has been known to cause long term
infection, scarring of the liver, liver cancer, liver failure
and even death.
 |
Type of Viral Hepatitis:
Hepatitis Type C
|
Hepatitis Type C is another liver disease.
Hepatitis Type C is caused by the Hepatitis C virus or
HCV. Hepatitis C is often transmitted by contact with the
blood of the person who has the Hepatitis Type C disease.
 |
Type of Viral Hepatitis:
Hepatitis Type D
|
Hepatitis Type D is also
a liver disease. Type D Hepatitis is caused by the
hepatitis D virus or HDV. Hepatitis D virus is somewhat unique
because it needs Hepatitis B virus to exist.
 |
Type of Viral Hepatitis:
Hepatitis Type E
|
Hepatitis E is a liver disease which is
caused by the hepatitis E virus or HEV. Hepatitis Type E
is not common in the United States but more
prevalent in undeveloped and developing countries such as South
Asia and North Africa. Cases of Hepatitis Type E in the United
States are often by patients who contracted the disease out of
the US.
